Albion Hotel - Ypres

After our initial surprise on arrival to find that there were 2 steps into the hotel and no ramp as expected to access the hotel in my electric wheelchair and our room also having 2 steps to manoeuvre past the staff pulled out all the stops to re arrange our rooms and we were soon moved into the wheelchair access room. With a bit of lifting my electric chair was soon into the hotel foyer and the hotel owner provided my party with a very welcome cold beer at the end of all the fun and games ! We were reliably informed that a new wheelchair friendly access is under construction to the rear of the hotel and should be ready in the near future. Despite this little mishap I would recommend the hotel to anyone the staff, and management, bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable the breakfast was excellent. There is plenty to see and do close by and in the surrounding area, the last post ceremony held at 8pm every day was a very moving experience as was our visit to the Tyne Cot cemetery, I would also recommend a visit to the Flanders Field Museum. All in all we had a very pleasant staiy in Ypres and look forward to making a return visit in the future
