Hotel Emma - Florence
Poor1.0 / 5
Without notice, I was moved to a different room from the one I originally booked 6 weeks earlier. I had to spend the night in a small, damp basement room, full of mosquitoes and without air conditioning. The bathroom was small. The shower was nothing but a hole in the floor, with a moving space about 40 x 50 cm. The bathroom floor stayed flooded till the next morning. The room furniture was old and the bed very short. The room door and window didn't look secure at all, and there was no safe in the room. The only good things were the staff and the breakfast, the rest was awful.

We were very impressed with the standard at Hotel Emma- very attractive rooms with high ceilings, and lovely quality on all the furniture etc. THe area was pleasant although not central, just a 15 minute walk to the action in central Florence. The breakfast was really great, clearly a lot of thought goes into selecting the best products. The service was very good and the staff were always friendly and considerate. We are a gay couple and the staff treated us with respect as you would expect. One thing which others had mentioned in the reviews, it was a little odd to have to explain to the owner if we planned to be out after midnight or not (we were on holiday and part of the appeal is not having to keep a schedule!). But as it seems he lives above the hotel I understand why he needs to have control, I guess. Overall, very recommended and I would absolutely stay there again.
