Cortijo El Guarda - Cadiz (province)
Cortijo El Guarda is a 4 star bed and breakfast in Alcalá del Valle, Spain, located in a traditional cortijo complex situated in a picturesque valley, not far from the historical city of Ronda. This elegant Andalusia rural accommodation was built in typical local style and was renovated between 2008 and 2011 to combine its traditional appearance with modern comfort.
The works were carried out by excellent local artisans who succeeded in giving the B&B the appearance of a traditional Andalusian finca, exuding true warmth and the greatest comfort. This makes Cortijo El Guarda the ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy life at a slower pace in the lovely Spanish countryside. The 500-year-old cortijo has five exquisitely decorated guestrooms, from where you will be able to enjoy some stunning far-reaching views of the Ronda area.
Cortijo El Guarda is very close to the villages of Alcalá del Valle, Olvera and Setenil. This great lodging has a history all of its own, having once been the gatehouse to a huge neighboring estate owned by clergy and noblemen, most notably the Duchess of Alba and the Archbishop of Seville. The bed & breakfast boasts a swimming pool, so you can refresh yourself in the hot summer days and a fireplace in the lobby to cozy near to during the chilly nights.
The heart of beautiful rural Andalusia!
Cortijo El Guarda’s excellent position makes it a true gem for those who want to discover the beauties of the very popular internal areas of the region of Andalusia. The city of Ronda, located less than a 20 minutes’ drive away from the Cortijo El Guarda, attracts thousands of tourists every year thanks to its spectacular scenery and architecture and is regarded as the third city of Andalusia for historical significance, after Seville and Granada.
The most famous landmark is undoubtedly the Puente Nuevo, a bridge that connects the two parts of the city, separated by the Cornisa del Tajo canyon, created by the Guadalevín River. From the oldest part of town, which also features a beautiful park, you will be able to enjoy amazing views over the Serranía de Ronda mountain range. Ronda was deservedly included in Conde Naste’s Traveller Magazine’s "Places you must see before you die" list, and is currently seeking UNESCO protected status.
The city is also famous as the birthplace of modern bullfighting and boasts the oldest bullring in Spain. Other major centers nearby include the city of Málaga, which is just an hour’s drive from the b&b, and is renowned for its long, sandy beaches that attract hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
