Hotel Verlain - Paris
Outstanding5.0 / 5
This was my first visit to the hotel. It's location is ideal for the tourist or business person who is in Paris for a few days as it is surrounded by restaurants and bars. It's proximity to metro is definitely a bonus. The rooms are modern and clean, but on the small side. All in all I enjoyed my stay and will return on next visits.

As many travellers have mentioned, the rooms are very small, especially the shower. Overall it was a good stay as we knew what to expect. Although very small, the rooms have been modernized and have crisp, white sheets, the towels are a little on the thin side. I do not rate the breakfast or breakfast room at all. It was like a morgue when we ate there. There was only a teaspoon on the table to eat the cereal with and there were no staff in sight. The toaster was on the table, but no bread to toast??? Some type of protein would be an advantage, but it is Paris and you eat bread and jam. There were plenty of pre-packaged cheeses to choose from! but they didn't look inviting. This is definitely an area they could improve on. I also think they need to lighten up the foyers on each floor. They are very shabby. Please GET RID OF THE PLASTIC COFFEE CUPS. They are paper thin and crack when you pick them up and may cause serious burn injury. Receptionist was not very approachable when I asked for a crockery cup, but did so negatively. the elderly staff member at receptionist was helpful in making a telephone on our behalf. The area is great for commuting around Paris with metro across the road. We would stay again, the room rate was excellent and these comments are written in the hope that my criticism is taken positively and some changes could be made to make the stay just that little bit better.

Poor1.0 / 5
I have never paid so much for a room so small. Very poor internet connection. A lot of noise from the bars across the street. The street in front of the hotel is filthy. The beds are the size of a rollaway cot. Terrible value.
