Friendly staf, easy acces on foot to center of town. Decor is very dated. The food tasted fine, but the restaurant didn't seem very clean.

Excellent location with very easy walking distance to the Cathedral and City Centre. The parking was greatly appreciated. The public areas were beautifully appointed with William Morris wallpapers. We loved the cooked breakfast which was prepared promptly and included a vast array of jams and marmalades. The management was great, we booked a family triple room and the owner offered a double and a single (both en-suite) for the same price.

We had a comfortable stay and found the staff very friendly and willing to help. There was only one problem which was solved imediately both efficiently and courteously. The location was excellent for visiting Canterbury Cathedral and the city.

We booked this hotel based on other reviews. It appeared suitable for our needs and the location for us was right. The staff were friendly enough and helpful allowing us to leave our car in the carpark after we had checked out. The room we were given, 217 appears to be a larger room that has been divided. Unfortunately it is just a stud partion wall dividing the room leading to being able to hear quite clearly everything happening in the room next door. This meant far from being a romantic, relaxing few nights away, and despite the comfy bed we had very little sleep as we were constantly being disturbed by our neighours snoring and various antics. The room was small and tired. It needs redecoration. It looked dirty too but on closer inspection its just its present state of decoration. The bathroom was a surprise, being big and airy. However it also needs redecorating and updating. The hotel over all looks tired. Neither myself nor my partner feel the pictures used to advertise despite being of the hotel are a true reflection and have been enhanced. The city itself is a 15-20min easy walk away. There is a restaurant and bar at the hotel and the hotel also offers breakfast. We did not use these facilities so cannot comment. Over all Canterbury is a lovely city to visit and wander round. I used to live there and our visit brought back lots of memories. However I would not stay at this hotel again.
