Acorn Guest House - Cambridge
Good3.0 / 5
My husband and I stayed at the Acorn House for just one night in Cambridge. The owner was very friendly and helpful. He booked us a cab for the next day and gave us a map with all the local sites to visit. My only concern is that anyone with allergies may not fair well with the older bathrooms and rugs. Our bathroom had a strong smell to it, we're not sure it was mold or cleaner, but we had to keep the door shut so we couldn't smell it. It was hard to take a shower since the smell was so strong. This place is great if you are looking for a place to stay for just one night since everything is within walking distance and breakfast is included. The owner was very helpful and friendly, I just think the rooms need an upgrade.

Traditional guest house 25 mins from centre
Traditional guest house/B&B situated on the ring road in northern Cambridge. Our room (#5) was at the front of the house, overlooking the main road. It was a hot night so we had the windows open and the traffic was noisy for most of the night. The room was not spacious but was cosy and rather too warm - a thick duvet made it even warmer, but we were able to discard it and use the sheet that was provided. The private parking is situated behind the guest house but this was not pointed out to us until the following day, despite us asking about parking on arrival, so we had to park in the pay bay a few meters along the road. Communication about this could have been better, as there was also ample free parking on the road behind the house. The breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Thought the room was expensive for what we got (£90 for one night) but that is not untypical for Cambridge.
