Throstles Nest Hotel - Liverpool
Outstanding5.0 / 5
From the moment i arrived at 11pm on a tuesday night being greeted by Mick till leaving on a sunday morning after a really good chat with Kevin i was made to feel at home. Mandy and her crew behind the bar and the lovely ladies who prepared the amazing complimentary breakfasts each morning and made up my room thank you. this is the ideal place to stay if you're coming to Liverpool particularly if your trip is for the purpose of watching football very easy to get to both grounds a number of buses go past. also a very cheap taxi from the city centre around £5 from Lime street station. the cleanliness of the rooms, common rooms and bar are to a very high standard also the WI-FI is very good they have 2 connections so it doesn't get overloaded if everyone is on particularly at peak times. many locals frequent the bar downstairs they are fantastic like most of Liverpool you're never left to drink by yourself someone always comes over and has a chat with you. thank you for your fantastic hospitality i will see you again someday hopefully next year. Sam

Doesn't look great from the outside but once your inside it's very clean, nicely decorated and you're assured of a nice friendly welcome. The staff are very helpful and the owner gave me lots of ideas of where to go and what to do. One place he recommended was The Philharmonic pub which is a site to behold and well worth a visit. I promise you'll be gobsmacked when you walk in this place. Back to the hotel. My room was spacious enough for me and clean and tidy. The only drawback was the bathroom being outside the room just down the corridor. Bit of a pain if you have to get up in the middle of the night for a Jimmy. If this is a problem for you, you might want to ask when you book. It didn't bother me. Breakfast was served in the dining room and consisted of everything you could wish for and the cooked breakfast itself was great and all freshly cooked and served by friendly staff. There is a pub next door but it's more like a social club than a pub. Everyone was very friendly though. It took me 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to Mathew Street which is where I spent most of the time and a taxi back in the evening was just shy of £6.00. I would say the hotel is more suited to single people and young couples. The owner said they get a lot of football supporters staying as it's only minutes from both football grounds. There's no parking at the hotel but there's plenty of room down the side street next door. All in all an enjoyable stay and I would certainly stay again.
