Great hostess - good location. Decent breakfast. Poor internet connection in the room, almost non existent because of iron doors being used. Air conditioner is very weak since its an indoor low capacity and not a split AC.

If you are looking for good accommodation at a reasonable price, you can’t go far wrong with Casa di Silvia. The owner (Julia) is very welcoming and helpful and is on hand first thing in the morning to deliver breakfast and any useful tips for your day's activities. She can also be contacted at any time via “What’s App” should you have any questions whether accommodation or tourist related. Breakfast is simple but does the trick and for those random, peckish moments a table of tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits and sweets sits permanently in the communal hallway for all to tuck into. Within in a private courtyard just outside the old city wall, Casa di Silvia may be on the edge of the tourist map of central Rome but is actually in a very good position. It is 2 minutes from the underground and close to some main shopping streets. Lying just far enough from the central tourist traps the local bars and restaurants are reasonably priced (not to mention the pizza takeaway round the corner). Conveniently, a 24 hour cash machine is at the Post Office across the road. The Colosseum is probably the nearest of the major attractions and is a pleasant 20 minute stroll from the accommodation but in Rome you are going to do a lot of walking so take advantage of the nearby underground, which is inexpensive and efficient. The ticket machines will give instructions in English (amongst other languages) and any journey is 1.50 Euro. A day ticket which covers the underground, buses and local trains costs 6 Euro. For something slightly different from the central tourist spots try visiting Ostia Antica which is the ancient Roman port a few miles from the centre. This is one of the best preserved Roman towns in Italy and a couple of undergrounds and a train will get you there in 45 minutes using the day ticket mentioned above. Far quieter than the Forum and with a rural feel, for those interested in the Roman archaeology this is great way to spend a few hours. The site has p

Rome in Feb..
Lovely B&B. Could not fault the accommodation and location, very close to the metro system. The owners were very helpful, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. My partner, whose birthday was on the day of check in, was presented with a bottle of wine, Which was lovely unexpected surprise.

I will stay there again :)
The hotel is situated just 2 minutes walk from San Giovanni metro station and even 25 minutes walk to Termini in case you run out of metro ticket money. it is a middle-class area for locals only, with lots of expensive and high-street brands shops. within a 5 minute walk, there is a square, where you can find take away shops (espresso, pizza, chips, ice-cream etc) plus a supermarket to buy your food and drinks. These can be stored in the fridge in your room. You can walk to San Giovanni church and then to Colosseo (15-20 minute walk), so you save money. the hotel owner, Julia, is a wonderful young lady, ready to answer all your questions and provide for a comfortable staying. the rooms are very modernly decorated and clean, WIFI works perfectly and although they face the street, they are sound-proofed with some of the latest technology 4-glazed windows. I recommend the B&B and the area and I will happily stay there again.
