I found the people working there to be extremely nice and helpful. The neighborhood is VERY sketchy but I knew that going in. It is also very convenient to all of Athens via Metro. If I were to be in Athens again I would stay there.

While the hotel was perfunctory and the staff were more than helpful, there was an issue of the multistory car park across the road, from the hotel! The top two levels had been,"screened off", with a hessian like cloth, which had several, fist sized, holes in it! Through the day, one could see people moving about behind the hessian and stopping at the holes? Very strange and unnerving as, at night, one also got the feeling of being watched! One can only speculate as to what these individuals were doing? The Transport system was a revelation, whereby a week ticket, costing 14Euro, allowed one to traverse the city and get to beaches and ports! Transport included, metro, buses and trams, which was great value for money! This allows access to all archeology sites that one would want to see, in and around Athens! The city is under pressure from many social and economic problems and it had an, intense, aura about it at times! However, the people were accommodating and friendly! The best way to see a city, is to walk. One did quite a bit of walking around and would recommend you stick to the main roads! Side streets off the main roads had, "dodgy" goings on and while one passed through many of these streets In the daytime, one should tread very carefully at night!
