great for a London break
Good quality small hotel. Very clean. Good choice for breakfast, cooked to order, very tasty. I stayed in the Captain's Cabin, quirky but charming room with a bottle of wine! Would definitely stay there again.

Comfortable Small Hotel
My single room was small but comofrtable. The toiletries were a bit better than I expected. The breakfast was very good. The location, down theroad from the British Museum, was perfect for me. I was able to walk to most of the places I wanted to go to. The staff are friendly.

The staff members I met were busy but helpful and efficient, and the breakfast was ok. But I don't know how anyone could enjoy staying in this hotel for more than a few days. My room was so small that the twin bed took up fully half the space, and the bathroom was cramped even for a small person. There was practically no storage space except under the bed, and the desk was too small to hold both the complimentary tea tray and a laptop computer. Instead of drawers for storing guests' belongings, the cabinet beside the bed held a refrigerator, which added more heat to the already-stuffy room, and a microwave which also seemed superfluous. (Would anybody really want to cook and eat in that tiny, cramped space?) The only saving grace was the back garden area, where guests could sit comfortably in the evening and enjoy some fresh air.

Even with secondary glazing & windows closed was extremely noisy with no ventilation. Booked twin but were given family room. Single had no headboard so pillows fell off and I had to wedge my leg over the edge to keep from rolling out due to sloping floor. Decoration & carpet tired and dirty, graffiti on skirting, floorboards creaked badly. Shower room had broken loo seat & roll holder, shower head clogged and loose. Breakfast Room in basement undergoing work; dirty & unhygienic -bare walls & exposed wiring & pipes; breakfast good but couldn't wait to get out. Stair carpets in hotel are threadbare. Not a happy experience generally.

A decent place to stay at a decent price and in a good location in Central London. Room was small but linens were clean and internet was free.
