Location, location, location
Our second stay here; location is really fantastic. Midway down the hill between the Termini Station (an easy walk past the plaza in front of St. Maria Maggiore church), National Roman Museum, National Roman Museum, etc. above and Colosseum, Foro Romano, Capitoline Museums, Trajan's Column, etc. below. Just a couple of blocks to the the Cavour Metro stop. We prefer a room with one of the small balconies on the street; a few scooters in the night, otherwise ok. Rooms are small. Bathroom small, but clean; linen fresh and clean; towels same style as most Italians use in their own home (i.e., not plush and/or Turkish). The breakfast is free and fresh, but pretty basic. Staff is very helpful. There is a great little deli just up the street on the same side, long-established, very Roman; don't be intimidated--sandwiches to order, "suppli" (google it), and drinks at non-tourist prices.

We enjoyed our stay at this well run hotel, apart from the steep walk back in the evening although that is something you cannot avoid in Rome, and found it well placed for the Colliseum side of town and also it's nearness to Termini without being too close. Our room was better than what we expected with a large bathroom and an outside, private, sitting area. It was well furnished although the metal bed wasn't very 'romantic'. The desk staff were very, very helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay a pleasant one. The only real downside was the breakfasts. They were boring with the same cereals (cornflakes) and breads provided every day. Even down to the one choice of fruit juice, some wild berry flavour. It wouldn't take much to change it round each day. The coffee was very good though. Overall our stay was good and I wouldn't hesitate to return here one day or to recommend it to future guests.

The Hotel Tirreno proxides good value and a very convenient location from the Roma Termini and the heart of ancient Rome. Our only suggestion for a better experience at the hotel would be an upgrade to the beds, which at least in our room little better than a mattress upon saggy springs. We would definitely stay again at the Hotel Tirreno.

Very nice *** hotel located away from main street. Quiet surroundings, if you remember to ask for rooms facing to the rear side. Good value for money.

Great hotel, very clean, help desk is very helpfull. The breakfast is sweet but correct... two small remarks about the hotel: breakfast - would be nice to have smth else else then croissant and jam (but for 3 days we stayed, it was very good) Room: - in the beginning we had room 202, which is very small, the douche is very narrow and small window that doesn't let the light in. But the room was changed as soon as we asked without any comment.
