Imperial Palace - Seoul
Good3.0 / 5
The hotel room that I received was a bit too "Louis IV" for my liking. It was spacious, which is nice. But it is tired in places, with noticeable chipping of some of the wooden features. The gym is a problem, though, as the staff don't speak English there, and - as someone who does not know the various local customs (e.g. wearing their special shirt and slippers etc.) - I was made to feel rather ackward; they even checked the soles of my trainers, which I thought was unsubtle and rather crass. There was though a Ms Crawford who works at the hotel and who was extremely helpful with advice about what to see, where to eat, etc. in the hotel's vicinity. She, and a couple of the other staff, were excellent.
