Trento is known as the painted city. Here, you can spend some time visiting the Castello del Buonconsiglio. It was once home to Prince-Bishop Barnardo Clesio and still houses numerous frescoes painted during his time. Stop by the Piazza del Duomo to glimpse the Fountain of Neptune.

On your way to the Dolomites, stop at the city of Bolzano, the "Gateway to the Dolomites." Take some time to visit the city’s Gothic cathedral. In the city’s piazza, take note of the Tyrolean-style architecture in the building surrounding the area.

Rovereto offers a chance to see a 15th-century castle and visit the War History Museum. Another stop in the city is the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

Why I love Trentino-Alto Adige

The Dolomites are some of the most awe-inspiring sights in the Alpine Mountain Range and must not be missed.

Spending time hiking through the Dolomites was a unique experience for me. The mountains are made up of chalky rock that is rich in dolomite. They appear to be a pale white in the sunlight but come to life at sunset.

On a recent trip to the Trentino-Alto Adige, my friends and I spent some time around the Dolomite Mountains. Each evening, we were treated to stunning sunsets. As the sun set over the mountains, they changed from white to gorgeous pink hues before blazing red. We were so engrossed in the beauty of this sunset that not one of us thought to grab a camera.
