What's Lazise Like?
Lazise was once a major trading center and Venice monitored the movement of merchandise from the Customs House. This structure, dating as far back to the 14th century, is located in the harbor and currently serves as a venue for cultural events and exhibitions throughout the year. Lazise is a walled city, the walls said to have been built way back in 1370. These walls are still standing strong, as are the six towers of Castello Scaligero. Lazise Castle is another popular tourist attraction, although visitors cannot enter the castle, as it still used as a domestic residence. The Piazza Vittorio Emanuele is a great place to visit, to shop and dine, and there are lots of luxury Lazise hotels located in this part of the town. The San Nicolo church, which was erected in the 12th century, is a definite must see.
