Aix-les-Bains experiences an Alpine climate which results in cool summers and snowy winters. From June to August, afternoon temperatures typically peak at around 25°C, however if you visit during ski season then temperatures are a much more brisk 5°C. Many of the locals, particularly those who work in or around the ski resorts, will speak English, however it never hurts to learn a phrase or two such as "Parlez-vous anglais?" (Do you speak English?). The town is situated along a major trade route between Chambéry and Annecy, and its excellent rail links allows you to take day trips to some of the nearby towns and cities whenever you get tired of the slopes and springs. The town also hosts several music and dance events throughout the year, the most popular of which is the Musilac Music Festival in mid July.
