How to Find the Best San Francisco Hotels with Venere

Nicknamed the "Paris of the West," San Fransisco is one of the largest and most prominent cities on America's Pacific coast. It is also the financial, cultural, and commercial capital of Northern California. A major center of the "hippie" counter-culture in the 1960s and the gay rights movement in the 1970s, the city still retains a reputation for left-wing political activism today. Despite these progressive influences, a number of major banks and international companies are headquartered in San Francisco. The city is also known for its cool summers and steep rolling hills. San Francisco has an excellent public transportation system and is ranked as one of the most walk-able cities in America. There are many San Francisco hotels to choose from; select the right one and you can reach beaches, comedy clubs, and museums without driving a car. The city is a good choice for your holiday if you like cool summers, art, museums, the ocean, trolleys, beaches, parks, and/or a vibrant gay community.

What's San Francisco Like

San Francisco is an important cultural center with many tourist attractions. Major landmarks include the Golden Gate Bridge, the former prison on Alcatraz Island, its Chinatown District, and cable car trolleys. The late Robin Williams used to perform in San Francisco, and, in part due to his influence, the city now has a positive reputation for its comedy clubs. The San Francisco Opera and the San Francisco Ballet, performing in the War Memorial Opera House, enjoy some of the best live performances in the country. The American Conservatory Theater is also a popular and a long-standing force for performing arts in the San Francisco Bay Area. The city has several excellent museums, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Palace of the Legion of Honor (which mainly holds European antiquities and art), the Asian Art Museum, and the California Academy of Sciences (a natural history museum). There are also several black-oriented tourist attractions, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, Museum of the African Diaspora, Saint John Coltraine African American Church, and African-American Arts and Culture Complex. Known for its surfer community, the city is also home to a number of excellent parks and beaches. The largest and best known park is Golden Gate Park, which includes the Japanese Tea Garden, San Francisco Botanical Garden, and the Conservatory of Flowers. The National Parks Service also runs the San Francisco Maritime National Historic park, which contains several waterfront properties and a fleet of historic ships. The city has an excellent zoo which houses a number of endangered species.
