The Florida Keys are a wonderful place to experience the tropics from the safety and familiarity of the United States. Key West hotels tend to fill up quickly during the winter months, but Venere's wide selection of accommodations will help you find a great room at a great price. All the value in the world doesn't help the room is uncomfortable or you don't receive the ocean view you were expecting. The user reviews on Venere's website help you vet candidates for your stay long before you commit to booking them. The Conch Republic is a great way to experience laid-back island life without leaving the mainland.

Tips for Getting Along with Locals in Key West

Key West has a large population of Cuban immigrants, but that doesn't mean you have to enjoy cigars to blend in. Knowing a few words of Spanish doesn't hurt, but is by no means necessary. Florida in general is fairly relaxed, so any form of casual clothing that's light and airy will be appropriate. Don't wear a Hawaiian print shirt unless you locals to know you're a tourist. Otherwise, the city has a very tolerant, relaxed atmosphere and nobody uses their car horns, even in traffic. Make sure you bring a good bathing suit and something to wear on your way to and from the water, as the beach is a huge part of local culture. You may not always have time to change clothes as you transition from a day at the beach to dinner in town.
